Holmfirth, UK

Presenting ‘Enduring Neon: Pennine Editions’, a 12-month development testing neon glass as a sculptural material in Holmfirth’s oldest surviving unit on Victoria Street. This former butcher’s and cobbler’s shop will host a rotating window display of experimental neon glass sculptures and installations, many of which are inspired from Holmfirth’s landscape, industrial heritage and community history. This tiny but highly visible space will become a free, 24-hour public gallery offering ever-changing contemporary art to residents and visitors throughout the year.

Having worked with public installation for several years, I wanted to take this practice out of cities and into a more rural context- bringing light, colour and sculptural storytelling into everyday places. The project is self-funded so far and is driven by a desire to make contemporary art accessible, visible, and part of daily life.

If you’re a local resident, passer-by, or someone who’s enjoyed the displays so far and would like to help keep the project going, any donation is hugely appreciated and goes directly towards materials, fabrication, and future installations.

Thank you for supporting independent public art 💛 https://buymeacoffee.com/aprilkey
