My practice regularly explores the relationship between architecture, memory, and light. This installation serves as a continuation of that exploration, using neon to draw connections between the local landscape and the built environment.
The theme of nature aligns with the Corn Exchange’s original purpose as a marketplace for natural products. Drawing on the interplay of neon light and glass, the series of sculptural forms evokes the fluidity and movement inherent in the natural
world—transitional and cyclical—mirroring the elements of water and wind.

The work serves as an interpretive visualisation of the weather fluctuations recorded in the landscape of Yorkshire, reflecting the frequently changing conditions that characterise the region. In addition to highlighting the significant natural light within the Corn Exchange, and its original architectural intentions, the installation allows viewers to recognise subtle similarities between the forms in the artwork and the building’s interior features. This connection enhances the experience, encouraging visitors to engage more deeply with their surroundings and embrace the historic architecture of the space.
